About Me
Education and Experience
I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership from Vanderbilt. This is my second year as the Advanced Academic Specialist at Hasse. I have taught for 13 years in 1st-6th grade. I have written books and curriculum for several publishers but my greatest joy is working with your students each day!
UIL and Clubs
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) ElementaryAcademic Competition is a program that gives students in Grades 2-5 the opportunity to compete against other Alvin ISD students in these events:
Art Smart (gr. 4-5)
Chess Puzzle Solving (gr. 2-5)
Creative Writing (gr. 2)
English Storytelling (gr. 2-3)
Number Sense (gr. 4-5)
Oral Reading (gr. 4-5)
Ready Writing (gr. 3-5)

Curriculum
Thinking Skills
We learn about convergent and divergent thinking, visual/spatial perception, and evaluative thinking.
Social Emotional Learning
We discuss being gifted, self management, dealing with emotions, tools for success, handling stress, perfectionism, and making and keeping friends.
Language development
We learn grammar, prefixes, root words, suffixes, and word meanings for Latin and Greek words.
TX PErformance Standards Project
We conduct a year long research project which help us deepen our academic learning.
